I love a good iced americano in the AM, especially when it's dulce de leche.
It's a delicious and easy coffee treat made with espresso, hot water, a little cream and caramel syrup.
It's going to change your morning routine - for the better - I promise!
Dulce de Leche Iced Americano
I often purchase iced coffee from the coffee shop at work.
For years, my go-to was an iced latte, but the barista suggested an iced Americano - her favorite drink. Sold!
It's rich, potent and delicious with a tiny bit of caramel and cream. Seriously, how can you go wrong? I fell in love and I'm still in love.
But we all know coffee shop beverages, as delicious as they are, can really break the pocket book.
So, why not create that same drink at home?
Okay, so it might not be exactly the same as when the barista makes it (I told you, I'm not an expert!), but it's pretty darn close, and only a few ingredients. #winning
So that's literally what it is - espresso, hot water, a little cream and caramel syrup.
And even though it wouldn't technically be an Americano, I also love to make this concoction with drip coffee (flavored) if I don't have time to make espresso. It's okay, you guys - it's still totally delicious, whatever it may be called.
I also love to use flavored creamers, and for this specific coffee, I use vanilla AND caramel creamer.
That way it's kind-of like dulce de leche, and their creamers are super rich and delightful.
Doesn't that sound to-die-for? Doesn't it make you want to craft your own Americano... right now?
It's not super sweet, and it's just the right strength to get me going in the morning.
And kind-of perfect for hot summer days, or the middle of winter, just sayin'.
Even beyond the energy boost coffee gives me, it just makes me so very happy.
The flavor, the scent, the warmth (even if it's iced, it wraps me in a big hug). It's just a better day when coffee is involved.
I don't think anyone can argue with that, amiright?
