You guys. I'll just warn you right now. These frozen chocolate banana pops are the official treat of summer.
Chocolate banana pops are the official treat of summer
This blog may, or may not, have 56,723 photos attached to it. Okay, slight exaggeration, per the ushe, but what I'm trying to tell you is that THERE IS SOMETHING DELICIOUS GOING ON HERE.
Sorry for the caps, I do that when I get excited.
And today I am excited because I bought two bunches of bananas and am making something totally fun and totally trendy, and there may be some salty-sweet love going on as part of it.
Are you in?
What we have here is literally the most amazing ice cream-like dessert, like, ever.
It's Loaded Frozen Chocolate Banana Pops, you guys. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
It means that a giant banana was dipped in melted dark chocolate and loaded with all sorts of toppings. So basically it's like a banana split on a stick.
Yesssssss.
I had something similar at an ice cream shop the other day, and I was absolutely floored by how creamy the banana becomes when it gets a bath of gooey dark chocolate and goes into the frozen tundra of love.
Mind, blown. So naturally, these guys had to go up on the blog n stuff.
How to make chocolate banana pops
So, the loaded part. Once it gets that bath of chocolate, you can put whatever your heart desires on the banana.
I went with some of the standbys... sprinkles, coconut, salted nuts, pretzels {omg to the salty-sweet, like OMG}.
And of course, a drizzle of caramel butterscotch because it's my best friend.
And as I was putting toppings on em, I kept thinking of other toppings that would be totally amazing here.
Like peanut butter {which it's a good thing I didn't think of beforehand because all of the bananas would be gone. In my belly.} Like chopped up berries.
Like a sprinkle of sea salt {sea salt and caramel, yup} Like mini marshmallows. MARSHMALLOWS! Ugh that would've been epic.
You get the point, though. Almost anything can go on here and it's just so fun to personalize your own frozen chocolate banana treat.
But really, who doesn't wanna eat all that? Especially on a hot August day when all you can think about is eating ice cream, ehrm, every night. Anyone? Bueller?
And besides being completely dynamite {obviously}, these are SO MUCH FUN to make! Right, honey?
P.S. this is a shout out to my hubby for dipping all the naners in chocolate, {being picky with toppings because he doesn't like nuts and coconut, WHAT} and drizzling caramel on the bananas for the photos.
He is officially hired as my food styling and photography assistant. And he is super excited to have that title.
I don't have little ones at home {besides furry ones}, but I'm pretty sure they'd have a blast making these treatssss!
I might have to put him to work from now on because we just make a great team, and he just loves helping me in the kitch.
Kind of. Really, he just likes the end product of all the work. And I don't mean the dishes.
Nomnomnom.
