Easy homemade sausage patties made with ground turkey and pork, maple syrup, red pepper flakes and classic sausage herbs and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1-pound ground turkey
  • 1-pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tablespoons fennel seeds, crushed
  • 1 ½ tablespoons dried oregano leaves
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons coarse salt
  • ½ teaspoon dried sage
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼-½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat a large cast iron skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. Combine turkey, pork, maple syrup and seasonings in a medium bowl. Mix thoroughly, then form into small patties.
  3. Place patties into the hot skillet. Cook 4-5 minutes per side, until each side is browned and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

Notes

Storage Tip: Cooked breakfast sausage patties can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months and reheated.

Prep Tip: To crush the fennel seeds, place them in a sealed Ziploc bag and crush them with a meat tenderizer or rolling pin.
